Austrian Design, Art Nouveau and The Sound of Music

One of the reasons I decided to take this "Design Blog Trip Around the World" was to hopefully showcase the fact that inspiration is absolutely everywhere
Austria is a place where I found that I am learning my own lesson, because truth be told
I have never pulled inspiration from here before for any previous client, and certainly
not my own - So it was a complete eye opener to me when I found such Great new  Beauty. and who knew that I would now be completely entranced by this "Austrian Style".  A style that's not exactly in great favor at the moment but clearly with a few fresh takes on their exquisite color palettes, the pattern on pattern,
the violent swirls and the breathtaking golds I can clearly see it taking off again in spades....

Art Nouveau:  1890 - 1910 Provided that important transition between Neoclassicism and Modernism.
The painting - Gustav Klimt

The fabric on the top left, the rug on the right and the pillow
are all prints that would clearly be welcomed in this
"Austrian Style".

The table, mirror and chair are all new pieces that are clearly
inspired by Art Nouveau.

The rug above is new, the table below vintage from the 1960's.

Both the top and the bottom are by Gustav Klimt

This new chandelier - another item of beauty that would
easily partner well with this style.

One of my favorite fabrics choices, and a cabinet that I would gladly
incorporate with this style.

Edelwiess - The National Flower

I'm a little obsessed with this desk and the lines cleary evoke this style.

I love when this happens. Throwing in this piece, which is a 1975 Gabriella Crespi console - there's not a swirl to be had, and yet it's complete magic in these surroundings.  It's a vintage piece meeting antique = modern. Pretty fabulous - right?!

I always love balancing masculine with feminine (and vice versa)
This is another pretty spectacular pairing of fabrics!
